HOCAP responded to the Akosombo flood spillage which displaced thousands of people in Ghana. After HOCAP intervened with a medical outreach and donations to the community members at their safe havens. HOCAP then followed them up when some of them moved back to their original community that was flooded. On the 6th of March, 2024 HOCAP had a medical outreach in the Lahuenya community. The report that followed indicated that children in the community suffered from Bilharzia. Aside this health challenge, the community has enormous needs, they do not have a health facility, no potable water, most of the youth are unemployed and without skills, the elderly who have all their belonging washed away are left with nothing to hold on to.
HOCAP IS LOOKING FOR PARTNERS TO COME TO THE AID OF OUR AFFECTED FRIENDS. TOGETHER WE CAN TURN THE SITUATION AROUND.
HOCAP had a needs assessment together with the community and these are some of the interventions that are needed.
- Providing treatment and prevention to the health challenges
- Providing potable water
- Skill training center for the youth
- Providing a health facility
- Helping community members go back to their farming business
